Management of infected hip arthroplasty involves a combination of surgery and antibiotics. Depending on the stage of infection, doctors may perform debridement (washout and cleaning of the joint), exchange only the liner and head, or completely remove and replace the hip implant. In chronic infections, a two-stage revision with a temporary antibiotic spacer is commonly used. Early identification, strict infection control, and guided rehabilitation help patients recover function and reduce long-term complications.
